Discover the American Legion Auxiliary -
Unit 72
Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) is one of the nation’s most respected patriotic women’s service organizations. Built on the core value of “Service, Not Self,” the ALA supports The American Legion and dedicates itself to serving veterans, military families, youth, and local communities.
Auxiliary Unit 72 proudly carries this mission forward. Originally chartered on January 11, 1943, Unit 72 began its work during the height of World War II, supporting servicemembers and families when the need for community and patriotism was at its greatest.
In the years that followed, membership changes led the unit to become inactive, and its charter was returned. However, the spirit of service within our community endured. With renewed dedication and a growing group of committed members, Auxiliary Unit 72 was re‑chartered after 1990, restoring its place within the Legion Family and reaffirming its commitment to serving veterans and the community.
Today, Unit 72 continues to honor its history while building a strong and active future.
