Post 72 fields a Senior American Legion team that plays a competitive summer slate against nearby Posts in North Carolina American Legion Baseball. The program upholds the Legion’s century‑long mission of teaching teamwork, discipline, and citizenship through the game.
North Carolina’s Legion Baseball community is deep and tradition‑rich, with senior teams appearing annually on the state and regional stage.

2026 Season Eligibility & Tryout Information
Aberdeen American Legion Baseball is excited to begin preparations for the 2026 baseball season and welcomes players interested in competing at a high level while representing the Aberdeen community.
Player Eligibility
To be eligible for the 2026 Aberdeen American Legion Baseball season, players must meet the following requirements:
Age Requirement: Players must be 19 years old or younger as of January 1, 2026, in accordance with American Legion Baseball national rules.
Residency / School Requirement: Players must reside within, or attend a high school located within, the Aberdeen American Legion Baseball territory. Proof of residency or school enrollment may be required.
Amateur Status: All players must maintain amateur status and meet American Legion Baseball participation standards.
Good Standing: Players are expected to demonstrate good character, sportsmanship, and school behavior, as well as comply with all team and league policies.
Players who previously participated in American Legion Baseball remain eligible provided they meet all current season requirements.
2026 Tryout Schedule
Tryouts for the 2026 Aberdeen American Legion Baseball team will be held on:
Saturday, May 2, 10 AM - Armory Park
Saturday, May 9, 10 AM - Armory Park
Tryouts are open to all eligible players, regardless of prior experience with American Legion Baseball.
Tryout sessions will include:
Defensive evaluations at primary and secondary positions
Hitting and baserunning assessments
Pitcher and catcher evaluations (as applicable)
Overall athleticism, effort, and baseball IQ
Player Expectations
Selected players must be able to commit to:
Regular practices and games throughout the summer season
Travel for league and postseason play
Team meetings, community involvement, and adherence to team standards
