With love and remembrance, we invite family and friends to join us for a Memorial Service honoring Gloria K. Butler, the cherished wife of David E. Butler for 52 years. David Butler is the Post Commander of American Legion Post 72 in Aberdeen.

The service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at:

    • 10351 Aberdeen Road (Highway 211)

Gloria Kay Butler, age 74, of Aberdeen, NC, passed away at home on September 30, 2026. Gloria was born in Marion County, SC, to William B. Meares and Hazel Hayes Meares.

She was a faithful member of Ives Memorial Baptist Church and more recently Ashley Heights Baptist Church, where her faith and love for others were an important part of her life. She dedicated 31 years to serving the children and families of Hoke County Schools as a teacher, leaving a lasting impact on the many students whose lives she touched. She was also a devoted member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 72, where she valued fellowship, service, and giving back to her community.

Gloria is survived by her husband, David Butler of 52 years; sons, Nicholas L. Butler (Alison) and Aaron D. Butler (Tasha); grandchildren, Jordyn and Camden Butler; sisters, Sandra Ray and Billie Caughran; numerous nieces and nephews. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents.

Family will receive friends Saturday, October 3, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Ashley Heights Baptist Church, 10351 Aberdeen Road, Aberdeen, NC 28315. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Chris Sanderson officiating.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post 72, 211 E Main Street, Aberdeen, NC 28315.

Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
